In 2008, I worked in emergency care after qualifying as a nurse. I was horrified at the attitudes toward mental health patients in crisis. I began to see how economically deprived areas were suffering more and more from poor physical and mental health, and how they desperately needed and deserved better care. I felt disillusioned by the NHS and left to pursue agency nursing.
I completed my counselling qualifications in 2017. At this point, whilst working in palliative care, I’d developed a strong interest in counselling patients and families as they faced end-of-life care for themselves or loved ones.
I was diagnosed with ADHD and menopause in 2020, which really helped me understand my behaviours, thoughts and feelings. But it also highlighted the extreme lack of support out there for neurodiverse individuals like myself, especially those struggling with addictions.
So that became the core of my mission. To counsel and coach those seeking answers. People striving to shape a better life but don’t know where to start.
I am registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), which is my regulatory body. If you have any concerns or wish to raise a complaint, you can do so through the NCPS. For more information, please visit www.ncps.info.
